A Scary Story Of A Broken Door Lock

When it comes to housekeeping, not all of us can do it well. It is a blessing to have a safe and secure home but honestly, it takes a lot of effort and money to keep it safe. And if you are not the one paying attention to your house security, someone else maybe. Yeah, it seems scary but it is a fact and a possibility. This is my story of how I learned some good lessons about our house safety and maintenance.

I never realized that simple damages at my home can cost me this much stress and inconvenience. Here is quick advice before we begin the story. If you find any of the door or window locks broken, never delay hiring Locksmith services in Huntington Beach CA.

A few months ago we got a new treadmill in our home. Thanks to my daughter who is a fitness freak. As the treadmill was being transported from the main house door, it hit the door. My wife and a friend of mine were assisting me in the move.

All of us worried for a while and then focused on delivering the treadmill to my daughter’s room. It took us an hour to get our breaths back. It may not be heavy for people who have strong musculature but I am a relatively short man.

When my friend left for his home, I closed the door but the broken lock was interfering with a closing door. I used hidden handyman skills and tried to fix the door lock on my own. And luckily, yet unluckily, the door was properly closed. That solved the issue and we kept ongoing.

Every morning I was the last person to leave the house so I used my little technique and closed the door. A month has passed and I kept delaying the repairs. I reassured myself that I will get to it soon but the temporary solution got it off my mind. Then we started noticing some conspicuous things about our home.

The food in the fridge was just vanishing in thin air. Our kitchen supplies were being used at a faster rate. My son also found a cigarette butt on the kitchen shelf. None of us smoked. It was weird for all of us.

At times we also heard some peculiar noises but couldn’t spot the source of the noise. Now, this may seem like a horror story but it is not. One day we found a woman sleeping in our attic with a leftover apple on her side. There were food leftovers all around here and a pack of cigarettes. It was damn scary!

A homeless woman living nearby may have noticed my daily struggle with the front door. She tried it in on her own and found a safe way inside. She lived in our attic for about two weeks.

We called 911 and asked them to take care of the lady but just an hour after that, a locksmith was replacing our front door lock.
